Ivor Chipkin takes ‘state capture’ and ‘elite populism’ on the road

This October, Ivor Chipkin does a lecture tour in the US and Canada, and will present the Betrayal report along with other salient work on state capture in Washington, Providence, New York and Toronto.

First up is John Hopkins University in Washington D.C. where Ivor presents at the School of Advanced International Studies: African Studies on 24 October at 12pm. Ivor will speak on the Betrayal report.

In Providence, Ivor presents at Brown University, at a conference at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs. He will present his paper on 26 October titled Containing the Media in South Africa: Turning against the Constitution in the name of radical change at the conference, which lasts until 28 October.

30 October sees him touching down in New York to present at the New School Department of Politics. This year, PARI has welcomed two guest lecturers from the New School, Prof Andreas Kalyvas and Prof Carlos Forment, and the relationship of academic exchange continues with Ivor’s visit to the New School.

Finally, the itinerary takes Ivor to Canada, to present at the Jackman Humanities Institute at the University of Toronto on 6 November
