Mahlatse Rampedi holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Johannesburg. His research interests include energy poverty, energy transitions, local government, and modes of popular mobilisation. Through this work and ongoing research, Mahlatse aims to inspire actionable solutions that foster universal access to electricity, and equitable and just energy transitions, emphasizing the importance of informed policymaking and community engagement. He is co-author of Hungry for Electricity, and is currently a researcher at the Public Affairs Research Institute.
