Simphiwe Dzengwa

Simphiwe Dzengwa completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology and his Honours in Political Science at the University of the Western Cape. In 1994 he was awarded a scholarship to study in the USA where he completed his MPA in Public Administration at the Florida Atlantic University.

He also graduated with an MBA in 2004 from Rhodes University. Simphiwe has extensive experience in public financial management having worked for a provincial Treasury, National Government, the DBSA and a stint in one of the top four banks. His current research looks at the application of section 139 in various municipalities. Of particular interest is the sustainability of this instrument and the challenges that have been encountered in its execution.
