Devi Pillay

Devi Pillay holds an MA in History from the University of Witwatersrand, which she completed as a PARI Fellow in our postgraduate development programme. She previously graduated magna cum laude at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, where she studied anthropology, history and politics. Devi is primarily interested in the anthropology, history and historiography of the state.  Her Masters research focused on the complex history of teacher unions, education policy and education governance. She still works the field of education governance, as well as in the burgeoning field of state capture.
