Emma Monama is a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Hamburg, where she also teaches on various topics including African urbanisms, postcolonial geographies of land and decolonial geographies. She holds a Master’s Degree in Geography from the University of the Witwatersrand. Her current research focuses on the production of former Bantustan geographies through an examination of how land is understood and practiced by rural ‘communities’ and traditional authorities and how these intersect with the broader question of land and land reform in post-apartheid South Africa.
