Mbongiseni Buthelezi has joined the Supervisory Board of Agora Energiewende: a think tank funded by the European Climate Foundation and Stiftung Mercator that focuses on dialogue with energy policymakers. It initiates and commissions research and uses the results to define the challenges of the Energiewende, presents possible solutions and creates a strategy for transforming Germany’s energy sector. Acknowledging Germany’s societal and cross-party consensus to shut down all its nuclear power by 2022 and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve climate neutrality by 2045, it brings together experts and decision makers and aims to use a maximum of scientific expertise to discuss feasible policy measures without ideological commitments.
Agora Energiewende funds PARI’s Energy and Society programme.
