On 20 June 2022, Newzroom Afrika looked at the state of municipalities – and particularly the metros. The political problems in some metros – look at the instability in Nelson Mandela Bay for so long – and then the water problems that were partially a result of that – or fighting over Tshwane that ended up in the constitutional court or the situation in Mangaung, the only metro currently to be in administration by the national government. PARI’s senior researcher and Programme Lead, Dr Thina Nzo, weighed in.
