On 30 May to 1 June 2019, Dr Marcus Walton attended a conference held by the Watson Institute at Brown University, titled Cities, Citizens and Governance in the 21st Century. The conference convened scholars from around the world to engage with one another on the possibilities and challenges of promoting urban citizenship by exploring the
structural, institutional, and political processes that cities develop to incorporate or exclude existing and aspiring citizens.
