The ANC’s treasurer-general Paul Mashatile is reportedly calling for an increase in state funding for political parties. The ANC has been in the news for some time with reports of the party unable to pay salaries for its staff members. They would like the yearly funds to be increased from R164 million to over R500 million. Is this fair though that taxpayers should foot the bill for political parties to exist?
